Evening Series – 3 Sept 2020

The preliminary results for last last night’s Evening Series can be found here.

There were some fast times last night. Harry Tanfield lowered his own course record from last year by 35 seconds to 16 minutes 47 seconds. Lauren Watson took a further 17 seconds off the previous overall women’s record with 22 minutes 40 seconds which is also the women’s road bike record. Rob Carter also bettered his own road bike record to 19 minutes 13 seconds.

This is the last event in this year’s mini series. Thanks to the organisers for putting it on in such trying circumstances.

Thanks also to everyone who took part. Hopefully we’ll see you all again next year.

AGM Meetings

CWCC AGM 2020

This year’s AGM will be held at Great Broughton Village Hall on Monday 21st September, starting at 19:45. All club members are welcome to attend (but see limitations below) and if anyone has anything they’d like the meeting to discuss they can raise it by emailing to secretary@clevelandwheelers.com.

Officials standing down this year are Mike Cole as chairman and Kristan Wadrop as treasurer. We thank them both for their fine work over the years that they held the positions. Those positions need to be filled, along with the role of Vice Chairman, and thankfully we have people prepared to step up. If anyone esle is interested in a role do let us know, by the email above.

Due to the current circumstances, and as part of the usage conditions for the village hall, we request that all those attending use face coverings. Seating will be organised so as to be distanced. The amount of attendees is limited to 30.

2020 Open Hillclimb

It’s less than a month now until the hill climb double-header of Clay Bank and Carlton Bank, held on Sunday 27th September.

This year the Stockton Wheelers event (Carlton) starts earlier so as to join more seamlessly with Cleveland Wheelers event (Clay). The idea is to make it more attractive to people who want to try both, no hanging round for hours between events. The plan is to give people riding both events the same number in both events so they don’t have to bother changing over numbers etc between events. As always there will be a prize for the best combined time.
Get your entries in, entry closes in 2 weeks!

CWCC Youth Sessions Restart

September 2020 – Update

Hello everyone,

I hope that everyone is safe and well and are enjoying their summer holidays as safely as possible.

I firstly would like to begin with an apology, as I was hoping to give you plenty of notice of our sessions restarting. I like to be well organised and less than a week isn’t ideal but it is what we have to deal with now. I was hopeful that I would have found out around mid-August as our application for our sessions went in at the start of August, but as you can imagine, they are very busy down at Everyone Active and they have only today provided me with the confirmation update that I was hoping to have had weeks ago.

Apart from a small update a few weeks ago, I last emailed you all at the beginning of July and said that we have been looking at the potential restart date of September 2020. I have been working very hard over the last couple of weeks with British Cycling (Cycling Governing Body) and Everyone Active (In charge of Facilities at Middlesbrough Sports Village (MSV)) regarding the potential reopening of the cycling facilities at MSV and the procedures that we all need to put in place in order to make this happen.

I CAN HAPPILY INFORM YOU ALL THAT MYSELF AND THE COACHING TEAM PLAN TO RESTART OUR SESSIONS ON – MONDAY 7th SEPTEMBER 2020, 1800-1900pm.
