Club Runs

Club runs take place all year round and start from the High Green Car Park, Great Ayton.

All are welcome but please read the message below about insurance, we would also like all participants to read the Frequently Asked Questions. Please think about the Club Run as a supportive ride – riders generally help one another if they can, rather than a supported ride – taking complete responsibility for your ride.

Club runs leave every Sunday morning, earlier in the summer than in the winter months. You can check the departure time in the club calendar.

Members are encouraged to publish a suggested route on the Cleveland Wheelers Members’ Facebook page which is open to all members. Please contact Dave Kirton if you need to be added to this group. There can be more than one ride in each group (eg hilly and flat). Group size should be restricted to about 12 riders for safety reasons.

Standard Group – Open to anyone who can achieve a minimum speed of 14 mph when riding in a group on the flat. Aims to finish at 12 noon.

Medium Group – 16-18 mph depending on terrain. Open to any member who can maintain a minimum speed of 18 mph when riding in a group on the flat. Aims to be back between 12:30 and 1 pm.

Fast Group – A longer ride averaging up to about 22 mph for more experienced members only.

We would encourage those who ride regularly with us to join the club (2nd claim if you are a member of another club). For further details about joining click here.

You should accept responsibility for your own conduct and safety (including the safety of your bicycle and other equipment) during Club activities. You take part in Club rides entirely at your own risk. To protect yourself from claims from other road users or pedestrians in the event of a collision, all riders should have third party liability insurance which is available through Cycling UK, British Cycling and elsewhere.

All participants should adhere to the Cleveland Wheelers’ Ride Guide which has been written by club members.
