Road Race Rules

  • After a short break, we will ring the bell again to signal that the road races are about to begin. Please line up in the pit lane by the start / finish line on the cycle circuit.
  • Remember your number, as one by one, you will be called out and line up accordingly for your race.
  • The races are 2 small laps, 3 large laps, 4 large laps and 5 large laps in length.
  • The road races are handicapped to make it as fair as possible.
  • When your number is called, please line up where the official places you in the race. This is based on a number of factors but predominately your time trial time, which is not necessarily the one that you have done on the same evening.
  • Lines of riders are set off one by one at various timed intervals. When it is your lines turn, you will be given a countdown of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then GO. Only go on the word GO. Penalties will apply if you jump the start. No holding allowed, standing start only.
  • For the 2 small laps race, you will be directed around by members of the team with barriers & cones in place. The remainder of the races are around the full circuit.
  • When you hear a bell, this indicates one lap to go.
  • If you hear a whistle, this means the race has been neutralised, slow down and be prepared to stop as there could be an accident / hazard on the circuit.
  • When racing, ride in a straight line and be cautious of other riders around you at all times.
  • When approaching the finish line on your final lap, continue to ride across the finish line towards the club house and come to a safe stop further down where the time trial usually starts. Please do not stop on the finish line or just pull off to one side suddenly as riders behind may still be sprinting behind you.
  • Prize money (£3, £2, £1) is awarded to the first, second and third place rider in each race. This can be collected at the next round during sign on.

Results Rules

  • The data from each event is entered into our system, giving us the final results for each round. Where possible, results are provisionally put up in the club house for you to see.
  • A rider’s position in each event (skills, time trial & road race) are added together to give their overall points score on the evening.
  • These are then filtered into lowest points order & based on your age category, points are awarded accordingly starting with the rider with the lowest points – e.g., 100, 95, 90, 85, 80, 75, 70, 69, 68, 67, 66, 65 etc.
  • In the event of a tie in points by riders in the same age category, it would go on their time trial time, then skills time and in the event of still a tie, their road race position on the evening.
  • Results are then added after each round into a league table.
  • Final results are emailed out to all parents / guardians via the email address that you provided upon signing up.
  • Unless a clear and obvious error has occurred, the official results are final.
  • Attend as many rounds as you can to earn points, as points mean prizes!
  • The best 8 of 10 round point scores are taken towards the final placings.
  • Final positions will be worked out and trophies, medals and prizes will be awarded at the end of season prize presentation evening.
