Evening Series Update

We couldn’t run the planned double lap event last Thursday (19 May) because of the temporary traffic lights on the course. To make up for this the event on 18 August will be a double lapper. This is instead of the fun two up event which was to have taken place on that date.

Could you please avoid parking at the start as we received complaints about it last year. We will probably move the signing on to outside Stokesley Town Hall in a couple of weeks time. Further details to follow.

If you are down to marshal could you please attend or, at the very least, swap with someone else as we need a full complement of marshals to run the events smoothly. Recently we have come close to having to cancel at the last minute due to an insufficient number of marshals.

For reference the marshalling duties can be found here.

Mountain challenge rides. 22nd May. 9am. Ayton

Hi wheelers. It’s time for the next and possibly the most difficult of our challenge rides this weekend. The mountain challenge. This Sunday 22nd. Departing Ayton tourist info car park at 09.00. £1 entry. 5hrs cut off time. Finish Fletchers farm. All welcome including none club members.
This year we have 3 routes. Standard, plus and killer! I tasked paul christon earlier this year with the job of making the long route more difficult, and he certainly has. I don’t think we could have possibly crammed many more difficult hills in to such a short distance. All routes now take on the newly resurfaced Gribdale, this will help to thin the riders in to ability groups immediately to help with the ride safety. This road has 2 gates unfortunately so please could the last rider close the gates, sorry about that!
For anyone who hasn’t done a Cleveland wheelers challenge ride before? These are not lead rides. Part of the challenge is to navigate your way around the course and complete it within the set time. Q sheets will be available at the start. There is a link below to the information on the website, Thanks to John Kelly snr for all his work updating the website info. Please study the information provided and choose your route with caution. Be warned that the killer route is very difficult and amongst many other climbs takes on street, caper, Chimney bank and Blakey bank. You have to be pretty confident about your abilities to take on the killer route and complete within 5hrs, You have been warned!
Other than all the hills it should be a great day. Weathers not looking as good as it has been although if it’s cooler this may be of help. Please try and be at the start no later than 08.45 for signing on.
See you all there, thanks, Dave Kirton.

Mountain Challenge

P.s. For anyone not taking part, we are looking for volunteers to help John Kelly with the start signing on and finish as Brian Beevis might not be able to officiate for this one. Also possible photos on gribdale? and being really cheeky would anyone consider opening and closing the Gribdale gates for us?
