CWCC Youth Sessions & League 2000 Update

Message from Josef George, CWCC Youth Development Officer

Hello everyone,

Firstly, I would like to say, thank you for the responses from all the parents who got back to me regarding my previous email. I appreciate that you shared your opinion and thoughts on our sessions potentially restarting at Middlesbrough Sports Village (MSV). I’ve had lots of messages asking for an update so, hopefully, the information below will answer a lot of your questions.

I have remained in contact with members of staff at Everyone Active and I have put your questions (and mine and the coaches) to them. Specifically, the Manager, Lee Dobson. I want to bring you all up to date with their position and hopefully answer a lot of questions that we have been asking over the last few weeks.

To begin with, there has been a lot of discussion about dates and a possible return to cycling activity. This has all been pending government and British Cycling guidance. In a nutshell, the date we are looking at is September 2020. This is of course, pending the ongoing global situation. Lots of other sports activity groups who use the facilities at MSV are looking at returning around this time and we feel that this would work best for us too. Schools will be returning then and hopefully this global epidemic will have subsided by then. It also falls in line with what the coaching team has been discussing – our plan would be to use the next couple of months to take stock, regroup and hopefully be able to restart our coaching sessions come September.

We have also taken the unfortunate and painful decision to cancel the League 2000 for 2020. The 24th series will return stronger in 2021.

I am told that there will be a number of changes to the facilities and how we use them when we do return. This will be communicated better at a later date, but for example, parking arrangements, one way in and one way out entrances, registration and payment methods. They are also upping their cleaning procedures and other methods in order to fall in line with current guidance.

There is no doubt that myself and the rest of the coaching team are excited about getting our sessions back on track and we look forward to welcoming you all back to our first session at the cycle circuit at Middlesbrough Sport Village, hopefully in the next couple of months.

If you require anything further, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks & regards,

Josef George
