Cleveland Wheelers Northallerton 50 in 4 challenge ride. Sunday 17th March

Northallerton 50

Hi wheelers. This Sunday 17th is the Northallerton 50 in 4 challenge ride. Hopefully we won’t have to cancel this year. ( remember the beast from the east last year! ). The ride departs from Marton Shops between 08.45 and 09.30. NOTE! This event is no longer a mass start ride due to safety reasons. Sign on and set off straight away, either in your small groups or individually if you wish? This event is free to enter. Please see the link to the website for route details. Let’s hope for some better weather this year? Thanks, and see you all there. Dave k

P.s anyone not wishing to take part can meet the club run as usual At Ayton for 9.30 set off, that’s if there’s anyone there?

CWCC Presentation Night 2019

On Friday 22nd February we held our annual prize presentation evening at Guisborough Rugby Club. Many thanks to all who attended, we hope that you all enjoyed the evening. Below is a photo gallery of the winners, taken under often challenging lighting conditions! If you ended up right under that vertical spotlight – apologies! And yes, it does rather look like the Ross Turner and Euan Sanderson show (though there’s still fight in Richard Lilleker), which hopefully shows what a great future they have ahead in cycling! Congratulations to them both, and to all of our other winners.

Roland’s Ride

Darlington Mowden Park R.F.C and SG Petch have teamed up to organise two charity bike rides to raise funds for the ‘My Name’5 Doddie Foundation’, set up by Doddie Weir (the former British & Irish Lions, Scotland and Newcastle Falcons rugby star), who was diagnosed with MND in 2017.  The rides will take place on Sunday 5th May 2019 starting and finishing at the Mowden Park Arena in Darlington. The 100km will start at 8.00 am and the 50km at 10.00 am with routes around North Yorkshire. There will be family activities taking place at the stadium in the afternoon.

The idea was the brainchild of Peter Rees, an SG Petch customer and Mowden member whose friend Roland is also suffering from MND and was a keen cyclist – hence the event is called Roland’s Ride.

The cost of entry is £50 payable online as per the application and this money will go to the foundation; each participant will also receive a specially made cycling jersey* at the start of the event as shown below.

To take part in this event simply make your ride selection, fill out your details and pay your entry fee. Every rider gets a jersey.

* NOTE : The cutoff point to receive your cycling jersey on the day is February 28th 2019

Full details and entry form can be found here.
