The annual hill climb up Clay Bank takes place on Sunday 29th September. The closing date for entries is Sunday 22nd September, so just 4 days from now, at the time of posting. Get your entry in soon to avoid missing out on what is always a great 3 to 7 minutes of pain! All details are as per usual (Great Broughton HQ, Tea & Cakes, 10am first off, etc., etc.)
Hi Wheelers. Next Sunday 22nd September is the premiere event of the year, the Castleton 50 in 4. A bit of a change this year! So to bring it in line with all our other rides I have moved the start from MSV to Ayton high green car park with the finish at the Dudley arms Ingleby Greenhow. So basically we will roll out along Fletchers lane to join the existing course on Easby lane. Head up to Ingleby and Clay steep side, Helmsley, Kirbymoorside, Blakey ridge, descend in to Castletown and take the 2nd left over the cattle grid to Dibble bridge, out on to Hob Hole Climb, artists cottage, Kildale, Battersby, with the route finishing at the top of Stone stoop hill and sign off at the Dudley arms. As usual this is a challenge ride, and part of the challenge is being prepared, navigating the route and finishing within the 4hrs cut off time. This isn’t a lead ride however ability groups will usually form in the car park. Please arrive in good time to sign on and be ready to roll out for 09:30. Route and further details below.
150/12. Sunday 4th August. 08:00 prompt depart from Ayton after sign on. Rescheduled from 14th July.
Just a few notes for those riding. It appears a bus has crashed over the bridge at Grosmont and the road is fully closed off, this prevents us getting over to the footbridge and on to the minor road that leads up to the stape road. So I’m going to suggest we continue on the Whitby road, instead of turning left to Slights, continue on and take the next left to Aisleby, Egton top, Egton and then climb key green which rejoins the route on the stape road. Full route and amendment below. See you in the morning, Thanks, Dave K
Hi wheelers. After some discussions I have decided to postpone tomorrows 150 in 12. The weather is looking thoroughly miserable. Rain all day today, double rain tonight and further rain tomorrow. I’m not after putting club members through this level of misery and not many will turn up. The 150 is meant to be a pleasant ride. I have spoken with fellow organiser Marcus smith on this one and we’re putting out a new date of Sunday August the 4th for hopefully some better weather. If anyone still wishes to go ahead tomorrow as it maybe their only date available, then please organise yourselves for a ride and I will still award the tourist trial points. Normal club run groups departing at 09:00 tomorrow if anyone turns up. Enjoy your day off.
