Charity Ride – Reminder

Just a reminder that club member, Derek George, is undertaking a charity ride this weekend, see below :-

Derek George writes :-

Some of you are aware I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in December 2011 and underwent a radical prostatectomy, meaning I had an operation to remove the whole of my prostate gland, in February 2012.

It is three years since the operation and with a PSA level virtually undetectable at my last check up in February.

I still suffer some side effects from the operation. This is likely with being overweight, which I hoping it to be, else another operation might be needed.

Anyway, in a bid to highlight this disease I decided to enter the Moors and Shores Adventure Cross 2015. I’ll be doing the 60 mile Massif ride. This is an off road challenge from Dalby Forest to Scarborough and back, mainly on old railway lines, and takes place on Sunday, April 12th.

I have chosen two charities to raise money for – Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance (NCCA UK) and Prostate Cancer UK. The choice is yours.

Gaby Alderson’s JustGiving page for NCCA UK is here.

My JustGiving page for Prostate Cancer UK is here.

Thank you for reading.

Bank holiday Monday Club run. 10am Ayton

Hi Wheelers. Sorry it’s short notice but what started as a handful of riders going out has now turned in to a proper club run. Departing Ayton tourist info car park 10am for a ride in to the moors. I believe our moors experts Paul Christon and Darren Thompson have penciled in a trip to Caper hill! Exact route and any groups to be sorted in the car park.

Also don’t forget we will be attempting to get the Tuesday club run back on this week after we were stopped by the weather last week. Meet as usual Ayton, 6pm for 6.10 set off. Probably Easby loops for the first week.

Cheers, Dave k
