Steve Binks

20161114_184634
On Monday night BBC Look North came along to the Sports Village and the junior coaching session. Steve Binks has been put forward by the club as an ‘unsung hero’, the regional winner going on to BBC Sports Personality of the Year. This is because of his outstanding service both to the club and the wider cycling community over many many  years.

Steve has made it to the regional finals and the BBC was there to interview him for Look North. They talked about the coaching, organising events and the Tour of Yorkshire amongst other things. It is fantastic that the panel of judges have recognised Steves service to cycling.

The feature will go out on Look North on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday next week (w/c 21st Nov).

Club membership hits 400

Hi wheelers. Membership has just hit 400 last night after we had two adults plus a juvenile join up. Impressive figure. We’re bigger than most clubs when you compare to cycling weeklies club of the week.

It is a slightly false figure though as there are still 200 members to renew their membership before it expires on 31st Nov, this number also includes kids who’s parents need to let me know their child is remaining with the club.

Thanks to Everyone who has renewed so far. For the rest of you, follow the link below and press on “become a member”. Kids parents just need to message me to let me know their child is staying for 2017. Beginning of December I will be removing none renewed members from e mail group and face book members page. Thanks, Dave k

Freewheeling Competition

Just a reminder that it’s the Club’s Freewheeling Competition this weekend – 11:00 on Sunday 6 November at Ingleby Greenhow.

There’s more information on the website.

The event commissaire is Mr Shaun O’Shea who will be ably assisted by Messrs Kirton and Bevis – so no shenanigans.

CWCC – CXNE

CWCC hosted the latest round of the CXNE series at Middlesbrough Sports Village today. It was a great success with over 400 entries over 6 races throughout the day. By all accounts it was a good and quite challenging course.

Thanks go out to all of the hardworking marshals & helpers, without them the running of this event would not have been possible. It was a long day for everyone but thankfully we were blessed with decent weather.

Results available on the CXNE website as soon as they are ready.
