I can now confirm that Simon Schofield, a freelance writer for Cycling Weekly and his photographer, Russell, will be coming to visit the Club Run on Sunday, 31 May. This should have been the date for the Mountain Challenge Ride but Simon is just after a 90 minute to two hour ride with a café stop and not “crammed full of hills” as he says this doesn’t make for good group photos. So I’m afraid the Mountain Challenge Ride has been rescheduled for Sunday, 2 August.

The Big Club Ride
“The Big Club Ride” which was mooted for early May has now been provisionally rescheduled for early October instead, to coincide with the Tour Of Lombardy, “The Race Of The Falling Leaves”. This is in part due to “fixture congestion” and in part so that it can be a send-off to summer riding before we all have to put our mudguards on again.
CWCC “Fixie” Ride
Introducing the Cleveland Wheelers “Fixie” ride – though apparently single speed is OK too.

Let’s Get Retro
As with many of these things the idea started with a few conversations which led to something, which led to something else which ended up with me coming up with an excuse to ride my bike, as though I need one! The acquisition of an old 1970’s Coventry Eagle rescued from my uncle’s garage was the starting point I suppose. I needed to justify having it and so organised what I thought would be a ride that would attract about half a dozen or so Wheeler’s riders.

We’d like to invite your club to take part in the first Sharp’s Brewery Atlantic Roller Racing challenge at this year’s Cycle Show at the NEC, Birmingham. It will be a team event using a new four-man roller rig created for the show by South Coast Sprints. To make the racing even more interesting, they’re designing a devil take the hindmost programme especially for the show.
