Roger Davies 100mile unicycle record attempt. 9th July, Croft circuit.

Hi, wheelers.

Club member Roger Davies is going to be attempting to break the 100 mile none geared unicycle record on Thursday 9th July using Croft circuit. Roger is aiming for around 6hrs. Rogers mate Sam Wakeling is going to ride a geared unicycle and attempt the 100 miles in 5hrs 45mins, an impressive target.

Please find more detailed information below

http://100.samwakeling.com/

Roger has asked if any of the club members are about and would like to come along and support. We are looking for cyclists who can bring us food and water during the event. We are also looking for people to do lap counting. Guinness are demanding quite a few people for the monitoring so the more people we can get there the better… or if anyone just wants to come along for the spectacle.

We have access to the site from 9:00 and intend to start by 10:00. That should mean we should be finished by 16:00.

Thanks, Roger Davies.

Harrogate TDF ride. 13th June / Nocturne ride 19th June

Hi all of you doing the Harrogate TDF ride tomorrow. Right, the ride is ON! It was looking like we might have to cancel earlier this week, however the weather looks slightly improved with light rain, although it seems to change every time I look. Just a couple of things to bear in mind. We don’t have a backup car this year so please make sure you have plenty of spares with you, good tyres, tubes, patches, tyre boots, chain links, chain tools, pump, plenty of money, all that sort of thing. Also wear appropriate clothing plus a rain cape. We’re looking at 10-12deg and possible heavy showers with a north easterly wind. Very different from today. See those of you who are prepared to brave it tomorrow as planned.

Whilst I’m on, just a reminder that if you can’t make the TDF ride the next organised ride is Paul Christons Nocturne ride next Friday 19th. Please see attached links to the website for both rides.

Thanks, Dave

Charity Ride

Derek George writes :-

Some of you are aware I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in December 2011 and underwent a radical prostatectomy, meaning I had an operation to remove the whole of my prostate gland, in February 2012.

It is three years since the operation and with a PSA level virtually undetectable at my last check up in February.

I still suffer some side effects from the operation. This is likely with being overweight, which I hoping it to be, else another operation might be needed.

Anyway, in a bid to highlight this disease I decided to enter the Moors and Shores Adventure Cross 2015. I’ll be doing the 60 mile Massif ride. This is an off road challenge from Dalby Forest to Scarborough and back, mainly on old railway lines, and takes place on April 12th.

I have chosen two charities to raise money for – Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance (NCCA UK) and Prostate Cancer UK. The choice is yours.

Gaby Alderson’s JustGiving page for NCCA UK is here.

My JustGiving page for Prostate Cancer UK is here.

Thank you for reading.
