Hi all. This week we will return to our Easby loops. Meeting at Ayton tourist info car park at 6pm for 6.10 set off. All welcome. I don’t think we have our new rider guests from Cleveland tri club coming along as I thought, but we will stick with the Easby loops anyway as I’m sure you have all had enough of hills after Sundays mountain challenge. If the weather stays like this it might be a night to consider cutting the ride a bit short and going to the Buck at Ayton for the social part of the training? See you all there. Dave k
Charity Ride
I work for the children‘s charity Railway Children based in South Cheshire and we are launching a brand new cycle event in July this year – the Tour de Yorkshire. Following the stage one route of the Tour de France we are inviting cyclists to join us just a week after the professionals pass through and challenging them to cycle the same 120 miles, starting and finishing in Ilkley. The event welcomes both individual and team participants.
For individual participants, there is a £55 registration fee and a minimum sponsorship ask of £100. To enter a team of four people, the registration fee is £50 per person and the minimum sponsorship ask is £50 per person.
Railway Children is a charity which cares and protects for some of the world‘s poorest and most vulnerable children living alone and at risk on streets and railway platforms in India, East Africa and right here in the UK. If you would like to learn more about the charity or the event itself, please visit www.railwaychildren.org.uk/tourdeyorkshire. Alternatively, please email our events manager Katie Mason at k.mason@railwaychildren.org.uk.
Thank you for your time.
With kind regards,
Louise
Help needed for Stockton Cycling Festival
The club has been offered space at Stockton Cycling Festival on the weekend of 11/12/13 July where we could advertise our club.
If you would be interested in crewing a stall for a time please let me know.
Hi wheelers. Just a reminder that this Sunday the 18th May it is the Cleveland wheelers mountain challenge (former tourist trial). This will take place instead of the club run and leaves Ayton tourist info car park at 9am. So please be there for 8.50 for your ride brief , sign on and pay £1 entry fee. Route handouts will be available. The standard route (45.1miles) takes us all the way through the Esk valley to Glaisdale where we descend through the town, then turn right at the phone box (signposted Glaisdale only) to head up caper hill. Then left and right towards Rosedale, right in rosedale and head back up to Ralph’s cross, straight over and back through westerdale and Hob hole to finish outside Suggits Ayton. 4hrs cut off time. We also have the addition of a bonus route (53miles) which goes straight on up Rosedale chimney over to Hutton Le hole, Farndale, church houses and Blakey bank before picking the main route back up at Ralph’s cross. Remember if you do the bonus route the cut off time is still 4 hrs. Brian Bevis will be back officiating and he’s very strict with his cut off times! Remember this is a self supporting ride, no route signs, back up or feed stations! Please see challenge rides on website for further details at http://www.clevelandwheelers.com
See you all there. Dave k
