League 2000 – Round 1

An excellent opening round of the 29th edition of the League 2000 with a phenomenal turn out of 60 riders on a bright sunny evening!

Although things did turn a little colder as the night drew in, hopefully things will warm up as we move through spring and into the summer.

Thank you everyone for coming and we hope that you all enjoyed the first round.

Hilly 21 TT

Hilly 21 Time Trial – Sunday 22nd March 2026

Sunday saw the latest edition of the traditional season opener, the CWCC “Hilly 21”. The weather was about as good as we could have hoped for — possibly the best conditions we’ve had for this event — and after what felt like an eternity, the roadworks and traffic lights on the course had finally gone, which was a relief all round.

Thanks to everyone who came out to ride, and to our marshals, timekeepers and helpers who gave up their Sunday to make it happen. We couldn’t do this without you.

Scratch Results

George Peden took the men’s win in a new course record of 43:32, knocking 10 seconds off his own previous record. CWCC’s own Charlie Tanfield was second and Ben Pease third.

In the women’s race, Bethany Brooksbank won the Scratch, with Louise Hamilton second and Sarah Foulds third.

It was great to see such a good turnout for the event, with riders, supporters and their families, some travelling from quite some distance to be here.

Northallerton 50 in 4. Sunday 15th March. 09.30 depart. Ayton

Hi wheelers, it’s the start of challenge ride season again. The first up is the Northallerton 50/4, this Sunday 15th March, departing 09.30 from Ayton high green car park. 4 hrs to complete the route, finishing at the Stokesley sign, with John kelly signing you off, either in the town square next to the toilets and the flower pots, or in his car outside the town hall, depending on the weather. Usual challenge ride rules apply, please depart in speed order from Ayton, fastest riders first, and please keep things tidy heading out through Stokesley high street and Hutton rudby bank! remember it’s not a race!

The challenge events are not lead rides and it is up to the participants to navigate the route arriving back within 4 hrs. Having said that it is the trend these days for groups to form before departure, and likely we will have a Cleveland wheelers steady, medium and speedy group.

Please note a small route improvement at Northallerton, when approaching the Northallerton roundabout from Yafforth, instead of turning right over the level crossing, we will be turning left, then right over the new rail bridge to the main Brompton road.  Further details and route available by following the link below.

Please arrive at Ayton in good time to sign on, and enjoy the ride. Cheers, Dave K
