Cleveland wheelers kit review 2018

Hi wheelers. The time has arrived at to vote on our club kit as it’s now been well over 5 years since we chose the current design. Basically we have 3 new designs, design 1 from Dave Cole, and designs 2 and 3 from Marcus smith, plus of course the current kit, design 4 to choose from. There has been some heavy negotiations and modification to try and make the new designs modern, yet still somehow as “ Cleveland wheelerie” as possible.
In order to achieving a fair outcome it will be a weighted vote, asking for 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice. Simply follow the link below to see the designs and vote.

Finally, in the interest of keeping piece and harmony, as I know very well from last time the tensions that can arise from changing the kit, although we have joked on about it, this really isn’t Brexit or the elections! Reguarldess of weather we vote to keep the existing design or a change to a new one? Those that prefer the current kit can keep riding in that, those that prefer to previous chevron kit can keep riding in that, honestly it’s not a problem, Brian Bevis still rides around in the original pale blue and red jersey, pretty cool and retro these days!
Anyway have a look, place your votes and let’s say a cut off 2 weeks from now, which will be Monday 26th Nov, see you all on the other side! Thanks, Dave k

Cleveland wheelers rough stuff challenge ride / sat 18th Aug / 09.30 depart Fletchers farm

Hi wheelers. It’s time to get off road again with our rough stuff challenge ride, departs fletchers farm at 09.30 sat 18th Aug. The route takes in Ingleby incline and a loop around Baysdale, finishing back at Fletchers farm, all rideable on CX bikes. Fortunately I’m unable to lead the ride this year as I’m away on hols, so there’s less chance of it all going horrible wrong! I have brought in some real experts this time with Ian Fryet kindly volunteering to lead the ride accompanied by our top off road experts Marc Pickersgill and Ian Thompson. Please can I ask that machines are in a reasonable state of repair and up to the task and that you carry your own spares, we have seen all sorts of contraptions attempting the ride in the last few years. If you require mechanical assistance with your bike beforehand then please shout up as there are wheelers members including myself that may be able to help you out. Points for this ride go towards the tourist trophy, please see the link to the website for further details below. Enjoy your day out. Thanks, Dave k

Cleveland wheelers 100 Challenge ride. 22nd July, 9am, Marton Shops

Hi wheelers. It’s time to put to the test all them endurance miles you have all been putting in. This Sunday 22nd July is our 100 mile challenge ride. Free to enter, sign on is at Marton Shops from 08.40 for a 9am roll out. The route heads over to Croft, Barton, Barnard Castle, the Stang, Reeth, Grinton moor, and returning back via layburn and Catterick. Finishing at fletchers farm, 8hr cut off. Please see the link to the website for details and the route. I would imagine there being at least 2 groups, steady and medium, however I must remind people that this is not a lead club run and it’s up to individuals to be familiar with the route and be fully prepared. Having said that the 100 challenge is usually a calmer affair with most riders happy to make it in to a social ride. Not done 100 miles before? Then a perfect opportunity to give it a go. If anyone wishes to set off earlier than the 8.40 sign on then they are welcome to do so and report back to fletchers farm. I will take your word that you have completed the course. Let’s hope for some nice weather and see you all there. Thanks, Dave k
