Steve Binks – a remembrance
In case you’ve missed the tribute to Steve which appeared in the Evening Gazette website we’ve included the link here.
in remembrance of Steve there will be a minute’s applause before the start of tomorrow’s parkrun in Stewart Park (23 Nov) and several members of the club are taking part in the run wearing their Wheelers cycling jerseys. There are more details on the Stewart parkrun Facebook page.
The annual CWCC Freewheeling Competition was held this morning on Stone Stoup Hill outside Ingleby Greenhow. There was a reasonable turnout despite a soggy start to the day.
The bookies’ favourites – Harry and Charlie Tanfield didn’t disappoint finishing first and second respectively. However, third place went to a dark horse, Neil Proctor, who seemed to still have plenty of momentum left when the put his feet on the ground a tad too early!
The recording of the positions was a bit hit and miss but I think the next few riders were Paul Sanderson, Andy Curson, Tom Levell, Marcus Smith, Dan Waring, Andrew Kneeshaw…..
There were a couple of photographers there – Marcus and Richard Carter so expect some snaps on social media.
Club Trophies
Could any club members holding trophies please return them to any committee member as soon as possible.
If you’re planning to come to the Bring and Buy next Friday (1 November) you could bring then along then.
This year the club ran this ride as a charity event to raise funds for MIND and CANCER RESEARCH UK.
As a result of the generous contributions we have been able to send each charity a cheque for £223:50
MANY THANKS to everyone who rode or helped with the organisation.
It has been suggested that we do the event for charity again next year- watch this space.
