Evening Series Week 13 – 26 July

Tonight we had the same top two as last week, but this time it was Richard Lilleker’s turn post the fastest time, 19:49 compared to Toby Tanfield’s 19:57. Ella Towers was once again fastest lady. Most improved rider was Dave Smith.

Roger Davies, for a change,  turned up on a TT bike and did a none too shabby 22:18.

Perhaps the weather forecast put people off as there were only 16 starters.

Cleveland wheelers 100 Challenge ride. 22nd July, 9am, Marton Shops

Hi wheelers. It’s time to put to the test all them endurance miles you have all been putting in. This Sunday 22nd July is our 100 mile challenge ride. Free to enter, sign on is at Marton Shops from 08.40 for a 9am roll out. The route heads over to Croft, Barton, Barnard Castle, the Stang, Reeth, Grinton moor, and returning back via layburn and Catterick. Finishing at fletchers farm, 8hr cut off. Please see the link to the website for details and the route. I would imagine there being at least 2 groups, steady and medium, however I must remind people that this is not a lead club run and it’s up to individuals to be familiar with the route and be fully prepared. Having said that the 100 challenge is usually a calmer affair with most riders happy to make it in to a social ride. Not done 100 miles before? Then a perfect opportunity to give it a go. If anyone wishes to set off earlier than the 8.40 sign on then they are welcome to do so and report back to fletchers farm. I will take your word that you have completed the course. Let’s hope for some nice weather and see you all there. Thanks, Dave k

Evening Series Week 11 – 12 July

Not many people fancied the idea of riding a two lapper tonight. We only had 15 people sign on and then one of them became a DNS when Roger Davies realised he’d forgotten an important piece of cycling equipment- namely his bike. I suppose we can forgive him however as a unicycle isn’t as visually imposing as its two wheeled brother.

Anyway, at the end of the night Richard Lilleker had posted the fastest time with a 40:51 with Ella Towers taking the honours for the ladies with a 50:06.
