Hi Wheelers. Moving swiftly on with the challenge ride season. This Sunday is the rescheduled 150 in 12 ride. A classic Cleveland wheelers event we reintroduced last year with a fantastic new route developed by Marcus Smith, taking in the coast and hills over to Grosmont and Pickering, before circling back via the flat lands of York and Boroughbridge. As with all the challenge rides, navigating the route is part of the challenge, and please come well prepared for mechanicals and unexpected eventualities. This is not a supported ride. However I do expect a steady and faster group to form. Please be ready to sign on and roll out from Ayton high green car park at 08.00 sharp. Also please note sign off will be at the Tannery Bar, Park rise on the cut through from Ayton high street. Not the Poor house as indicated on the website. 

Obviously not everyone will wish to take part in this, so can normal club run groups meet for 09.00 start as usual

150 Mile Challenge

Results are also available on the Cleveland Wheelers website at https://clevelandwheelers.com/ under the ‘League 2000’ tab and moving down to the ‘Results’ tab in the drop-down menu. Information is also available on our social media. Please use this time to familiarise yourself with the various tabs under the League 2000 banner for information on how the evening works, members of the League 2000 team, calendar of events and much more!

Round 8 Stats & Info –

• The League 2000 returns for its 26^th season, with a full 12 rounds between April – July 2023.
• 45 riders took to the start of Round 8 on a bright but another very windy evening.
• We had 1 new rider take part in the League 2000 for the very first time.
• With a vicious head wind on the finish straight, only 6 riders where able to improve on their TT times based on their previous times set.
• We are just over the half way point of the League 2000 & events are closely contested across all rounds. With the action now heating up, who will come out on top on each age category?
• Lots of positive smiling faces having fun and a good sense of camaraderie across all clubs represented, as always, creating a lovely atmosphere.
• Thank you for attending and we hope you all had fun & enjoyed the round! The next round, Round 9, is on Monday 10^th July 2023.

Cleveland Wheelers Cycling Club

Hi wheelers, it’s challenge ride time again. The 100 in 8 is now this Sunday 2nd July, 09.00 depart, Ayton high green car park. It’s earlier this year after we swapped some dates around for last weeks national events. Consider this a warm up for the 150 in 12 in two weeks time.    So as with all the challenge rides, this is not a lead ride, part of the challenge is to navigate and complete the route within the cut off time, so please come prepared. That said, the trend these days is for groups to form in the car park so we will more than likely have at least a steady and faster group. I simplified the route last year back to something resembling an old old route, so if in doubt? As long as you make it to Richmond, Grinton Moor, Leyburn, Middleham, Masham and back via Northallerton and Osmotherley to Fletchers farm then we will happily tick you off as complete.  Please find further details and route on the website link below. 100 Mile Challenge

The National Road Championships are currently gracing our area! Come and watch at all rounds to see the elite riders from the grand tours try and tackle the courses set in Redcar & Cleveland. There are also former Cleveland Wheeler and League 2000 riders on the starting line up too!

We will be in attendance at all rounds, with some activities on Friday, 23 June (Round 2) & Sunday, 25 June(Round 3).

Friday we have some skills activities set up on the main course in Redcar between 4pm-530pm. Bring your bike and helmet to take part! We will have some hire bikes available also.

Sunday will be in attendance all day along Marine Parade at the top of Saltburn Bank, swing by our gazebo to come say hi and try your hand at some of our games (you don’t need your bike) with prizes to be won and free handouts!
