Cleveland wheelers castleton 50/4 challenge ride. Sunday 17th sept. 09.30.MSV

Hi Wheelers. This Sunday 17th September is the premier event of the year! The castleton 50 in 4 challenge ride ( tourist trial ) departing from MSV, if you can congregate on the far LHS of the car park at the skate park end and be ready to roll out for 09.30. Please see the link below for full details and route. As usual part of the challenge is to navigate the course and be self supporting, arriving at castleton within 4 hrs. Unfortunately Castletown tea shop is closed again, so John kelly will be signing riders off either in the small green opposite the tea shop, or from in his car nearby if the weathers not great. Refreshments can be found in the co-op just up the road.  I do have plans to re-jig the entire event, moving the start to Ayton and finish to Ingleby Greenhow, however this won’t be till next year I’m afraid. Please bear in mind this is not a lead ride! However I suspect that ability groups will quickly form. Please keep things neat and tidy as usual, and remember “it’s not a race”! See you all there, thanks, Dave K

League 2000

Josef George writes :-

The results from each round of the League 2000 are being sent to you via the email address that you provided when you signed up. Results are also available on the Cleveland Wheelers website at https://clevelandwheelers.com/ under the ‘League 2000’ tab and moving down to the ‘Results’ tab in the drop-down menu. Information is also available on our social media. Please use this time to familiarise yourself with the various tabs under the League 2000 banner for information on how the evening works, members of the League 2000 team, calendar of events and much more!

Hello everyone,

*** I have to start with an unfortunate message to be sharing with you all. Unfortunately, a car was broken into in the car park on Monday evening whilst we were all in attendance at Round 9. The car belonged to a parent of our cycling community and the parent, myself, the League 2000 team and the team at Everyone Active would like to spread awareness of this issue. Whilst you park at your own risk, please do everything that you can to not leave anything on show, lock your car up securely and park safely. Everyone Active have advised me that their staff and liaison officer are out doing regular walk rounds and checks of the facilities. Please see the attached photo of the area in question in the car park, which is apparently a ‘grey area’ that security cameras do not pick up. I would advise not parking in this area of the car park going forward. ***

Round 9 Stats & Info –

  • The League 2000 returns for its 26th season, with a full 12 rounds between April – July 2023.
  • Round 9 had 45 riders enter on a very wet and windy evening, until the sun broke through the clouds for the races.
  • We had 2 new riders take part in the League 2000 for the very first time.
  • Even though tricky conditions graced us for the Time Trial, 7 riders where still able to improve on their TT times based on their previous times set.
  • We are over the half way point of the League 2000 & events are closely contested across all rounds. With the action now heating up, who will come out on top on each age category?
  • Lots of positive smiling faces having fun and a good sense of camaraderie across all clubs represented, as always, creating a lovely atmosphere.
  • Thank you for attending and we hope you all had fun & enjoyed the round! The next round, Round 10, is on Monday 17th July 2023.

Housekeeping Messages –

  • If you know of anyone who is interested in getting into cycling, please let them know about The League 2000 – it is a good place to start! 🙂
  • I was a guest on Episode 6 of The Cycling Circuit Podcast, talking all things League 2000 – feel free to listen here and share freely – https://linktr.ee/thecyclingcircuit
@thecyclingcircuit | Linktree Linktree. Make your link do more. linktr.ee
  • Please make sure that registration is completed before attending. You only need to register ONCE for the whole series. You cannot enter any rounds unless you register first. If you still need to register, see this link – https://clevelandwheelers.com/league-2000-forms/
  • We have a new Rules & Regulations section which is now live on our website. Whilst we still want to have a fun and competitive League 2000 competition, we all need to be playing within the rules. Please familiarise yourself with this as well as our Code of Conduct for riders and parents / guardians. Hopefully this helps explain how a round typically works and the rules to compete within.
  • Your cooperation is much appreciated with this and if we are all able to get this right, we can make the evenings much more streamlined. You have as much say in how smooth the evening runs as much as we do 🙂

  • Only the top 5 in the Skills, Time Trial and Road Races are listed in the table below.

Cleveland wheelers 150 in 12. Sunday 16th July, 8am depart Ayton.

Hi Wheelers. Moving swiftly on with the challenge ride season. This Sunday is the rescheduled 150 in 12 ride. A classic Cleveland wheelers event we reintroduced last year with a fantastic new route developed by Marcus Smith, taking in the coast and hills over to Grosmont and Pickering, before circling back via the flat lands of York and Boroughbridge. As with all the challenge rides, navigating the route is part of the challenge, and please come well prepared for mechanicals and unexpected eventualities. This is not a supported ride. However I do expect a steady and faster group to form. Please be ready to sign on and roll out from Ayton high green car park at 08.00 sharp. Also please note sign off will be at the Tannery Bar, Park rise on the cut through from Ayton high street. Not the Poor house as indicated on the website.

Obviously not everyone will wish to take part in this, so can normal club run groups meet for 09.00 start as usual

Thanks, Dave K
