Club Runs

Hi Wheelers. Over the past month we have been fine tuning the club runs with the introduction of the easy paced group which has really taken off, plus various club run regulars volunteering to lead groups organised via the Cleveland Wheelers ride leaders face book page. It all seems to be running well, however the last little tweak for now is we are going to separate the start times of the steady and fast groups to avoid confusion and the amount of numbers gathering in the car park. This will encourage riders to decide which group they are going to ride with before they leave home and assist the ride leaders organising their group. This worked well a couple of winters ago. So for the winter period the start times will be as below and we will see how it goes. All routes to be made up on the day by ride leaders as weather becomes a big factor, unless we decide to put out a special route . additional rides can be organised via Cleveland Wheelers members face book page.

Saturday. 10.30. Easy paced group 14-15mph. 25-35 miles. (we have made it 10.30 start to allow some members to get over from the park run)

Sunday. 09.30. Easy paced group 14-15mph. 25-35 miles.

09.45. Fast group 18-19mph.

10.00. regular steady group 16-17mph

The above rides will not be advertised weekly, they are a weekly feature however please keep an eye on wheelers website and face book page for additional rides. Marcus smith is currently running the Monday prissick nights plus strength training on a Saturday morning. Also if anyone fancies organising a faster Saturday group then please organise it via the wheelers face book page and we can see how it goes.

Please enjoy your riding over the winter months and remember that mudguard season is now upon us!

Thanks. Dave Kirton.

Easy paced rides. Sat 25th, Sun 26th

Hi wheelers and guests. We are going to run the easy paced group this Saturday and Sunday again after some success last week. This group is aimed at those who would like to ride with us but haven’t the speed or confidence to go with our existing steady group which does 16/17mph. This weekend looks a bit windy again but should be rideable. Meet both days at Ayton tourist info car park. Saturday will change to 10.30am depart to give some people time to get from the park run so please be there about 10.20. On Sunday I’m going to make it 09.30 start again so it doesn’t clash with the established club run groups as this will cause confusion so please be there Sunday for 09.20. Both rides will be aprox 14 to 15mph or the pace of the steadiest rider and will be in a group formation taking turns at the front in to the wind, about 2 hrs with cafe stop at the end. I’m unable to attend this weekend but experienced hands Paul Christon and Shaun O’Shea will be there to look after the group. It’s my intention that once established this group will manage itself. Enjoy your ride. Dave k

Riders 3rd party liability insurance BC/CTC

Hi club runners and guest riders. After our recent look in to liability issues, we would like everyone that rides with us to have at least the minimum 3rd party liability insurance and also join the club if you ride with us regularly. You can join 2nd claim if you currently ride for another club/team. Please check out the links below. The British cycling ‘ride’ membership £16 (normally £32) seems the cheapest as you get £20 of In your first year if you quote “NEWCMRA” or “NEWCMRD” and you are a member of the Cleveland wheelers as we pay money to be affiliated to BC and CTC. Also check out the CTC cover if you would prefer their membership benefits. Thanks Dave k

Easy paced rides, Ayton tourist info car park. This Sat 18th 10am set off. Sun 19th 09.30 set off

Hi wheelers and guests. I’m going to try and start this easy paced group up again this weekend. Unfortunately I had to cancel the first one two weeks ago due to foul weather. This group is aimed at those who would like to ride with us but haven’t the speed or confidence to go with our existing steady group which does 16/17mph. This weekend looks a bit tricky with high winds but the forecast shows it dropping to about 16mph so just about rideable and a good test of the group riding skills we are going to work on. Anyhow, due to popular demand I’m going to put this ride on both Saturday and Sunday. Meet both days at Ayton tourist info car park, Saturday will be 10am depart so please be there about 09.50. On Sunday I’m going to make it 09.30 start as I don’t want it to clash with the established club run groups as this will cause confusion so please be there Sunday for 09.20. Both rides will be aprox 15mph or the pace of the steadiest rider and will be in a group formation taking turns at the front directly in to the SW wind, about 2 hrs with cafe stop at the end. I’m only doing the first part of the ride Saturday but other experienced riders are turning up who will be able to look after the group. It’s my intention that once established this group will manage itself. See you all there and enjoy the ride. Dave k

Cleveland wheelers York train trip. Sat, 18th Oct

Hi all. Sorry I know it’s late notice but a few of us are having a Cleveland wheelers and friends afternoon / early evening out in York. Will be a nice afternoon out. All welcome, singles, couples, even unicyclists can come! Train departs m’bro station at 12.28. We will probably get the last but one train back at 19.16. I believe the train costs about £11 to £14? But I’m afraid I don’t really know as I get it for free ;-). See you all there. Thanks, Dave k
