Tuesday night club run 22nd Sept. 6pm. Ayton. The last one ;-(

Hi all. Tuesday night club run meeting as usual, Ayton tourist info car park at 6pm for 6.10 set off. All welcome. This really will be the last organised Tuesday night club run for this year. Sunset 19.05 Tuesday. Just enough time to squeeze maybe one or two Easby loops in and a Gribdale dash! I won’t be out for this one I’m afraid.
This doesn’t have to be the end of evening rides though. If anyone wishes to do some proper night rides with the big lights on then just organise it on the members face book page. I may do a few myself but I won’t be putting on a weekly organised ride after this one. It’s been a great year of Tuesday night club runs. I have made it to more of these than Sunday club runs. Some great rides, fantastic numbers, and a fair few new riders introduced. Enjoy your ride, and don’t forget your lights!

Thanks for all your help running Tuesday club runs this year. Cheers, Dave

Clay bank HC, 4th oct. Final reminder for anyone wishing to enter.

Hi Wheelers. Its nearly clay bank hill climb time again. Sunday 4th Oct, 10 am. Just so newer members understand, this is the main open event hill climb organised via the cycling time trials org, as opposed to the clay bank miniseries for club members only that followed on from the evening series. All this means is that anyone can enter as long as they are a member of a ctt affiliated cycling club. Please follow the link below if you would like to enter. The closing date is 22nd Sept. for those of you who are really feeling like punishment then the Stockton wheelers are organising Carlton Bank on the afternoon and we are going to add up the times for those doing both events for a joint winner.
Any club member can enter this. Give it a go and don’t feel that you have to be some sort of mountain goat to try. It will be fun to take part. Honest! Refreshments will be on afterwards at the Broughton / Kirby sports hall where we are sharing venues with blue Giraffe cycles who are holding a sportive on the same day.
I will be making it one prize per rider this year to better share out the prizes. Also I’m going to introduce junior under 16s prize 1st to 3rd place for both separate boys and girls categories, oh, and increase the age cats to include the over 70s! plus the tandem prize. Should be fun.

Please follow the links below if you would like to enter. I have also included the link for the Carlton Bank HC for those that are feeling extra brave!

Cheers, Dave

Tuesday night club run. 15th Sept. 6pm. Ayton

Hi all. Tuesday night club run meeting as usual, Ayton tourist info car park at 6pm for 6.10 set off. All welcome. We really are running low on time now with the light so the rides are going to get shorter. Flashing lights a must. So tomorrow night the plan is one or two clockwise laps of easby depending on riders speed, then straight back to little Ayton, climb gribdale as fast as possible, then regroup back at the buck. Sunset 19.22. I think we will have to make the following week the last for this year. Probably a couple of reps of gribdale and then finished. See you all there.

Cheers, Dave k

Changes to Club Run Times, Starting Weekend Sat 12th/Sun 13th September

Hi, club run riders.

Following some constructive comments on the club survey, plus continuing
confusion with club run set off times I have reviewed the group start times.
Many of you would like to start earlier, plus I would like a half hour gap
minimum between all groups otherwise there’s a tendency to say “let’s all
just ride together” and I’m afraid it just doesn’t work, plus the fact that
the groups become too big.

So as of next weekend 12th and 13th September these will be the set off
times. All leaving from Ayton Tourist Info car park.

Fast group. 09.00 Sunday. 17-19mph. 50-70 miles

Medium group. 09.30 Sunday. 16-17mph. 40-50 miles

Steady group. 10.00 Saturday and Sunday. 15mph. 25-35 miles.

I’m not going to bother organising medium and fast groups on Saturdays as
these tend to be self-organising on Facebook as and when people wish to
ride. Whereas the steady eddies ride is the main intro ride for new and
steadier riders, it’s also become popular with those recovering from injury
or just wanting a really nice recovery ride. So I would like to keep the
momentum going with this group on top of the great ride leading from Julie
McNicolas that has helped to establish it. We may have to adjust the time of
the fast group in the depths of winter but again the fast group tends to be
self-organising and the times for the fast group can be adjusted via
Facebook as required.

So Please don’t forget these start times this weekend and please try to
decide which group you’re going to ride with before leaving home.

Thanks for your attention, Dave k

Tuesday night club run. 8th Sept. 6pm. Ayton

Hi all. Tuesday night club run meeting as usual, Ayton tourist info car park at 6pm for 6.10 set off. All welcome. The weathers looking dry but dull so we won’t have much light. Maybe do some clockwise loops of Easby again in ability groups for an hour then head back. I think again we may have some newies out with us so I don’t mind steadying around with them if everyone else wants to bomb off? Remember flashing lights needed now. Were well in to that time of the year time of year I’m afraid when it’s easy to get caught out in the dark. See you all there. Dave k
