Cycling book by a local author

Mike Newton writes :-

I am Mike Newton of GASBAGS (Great Ayton & Stokesley Biking & Guzzling Society). I cycled last year 1450 miles from Hungary to Home, and have now published a Kindle book about the ride.

“Two Grandads & an Alien cycle from Hungary to Home – Kindle Book.” The sub-title of the book is “Three over-60 year old men cycle over 1450 miles from Budapest through Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands, and past Lake Balaton, Lake Worthersee and Lake Constance.

The Book is about the events and experiences of the ride, of which quite a few are amusing, and some information about the places we visited, and the comradeship. Lots of the chat is over breakfast and is about what we expect to experience, then some about the actual cycle trip. The route is shown but I rarely detail that we turn left, right etc. The weather was very important as we had days of 38 DegC, which is exhausting when cycling 60 miles or more.

My first review: “A great read for cyclists. It will be an invaluable aid for anyone thinking about a long distance ride across Europe. A great read for tourists. It will tell you lots about these countries. A great ride for anyone approaching retirement. It will inspire you to take on new challenges. Excellent value for money.”

The book is available on Amazon Kindle for £2.73. See here for further information.
