Club subscription renewals for 2016

Hi wheelers. For those of you who are yet to renew your club subs for 2016 please follow this link to pay directly. This is the preferred method.

https://www.sportsentrysolutions.co.uk/new_member_page.php?recordID=763

Anyone who still wishes to pay by cash or cheque I’m going to relax on the payment methods and start to take subs again beginning this weekend. I will dig my note book, pencil and plastic wallet out of retirement. I will be able to take payment at club runs, the bring and buy sale, and other wheelers venues. Deadline for renewal is November 30th, at which point you loose the benefits of being a Cleveland wheeler! Thanks to those who have renewed already.

Thanks, Dave k

Falling leaves sportive. Sunday 11th Oct. 08.30-09.00 start. Great Broughton /Kirkby

Hi wheelers, this Sunday 11 oct. Chris Scott at blue giraffe cycles wants to do some publicity and is inviting cleveland wheelers to ride his falling leaves sportive for free! There are two routes both starting from Kirkby/broughton sports hall. The short one is 35 miles whilst the other is 55 and has hills. Both go to potto rountons and Appleby whiske and split after welbury. Short comes back whilst the long one climbs to osmotherly and then goes to Hornby comes out at the top of Newgate and returns by chop gate and broughton. Obviously the routes are signed and there would be water half way round. It would be a bit different for the club runs and is for free! The steady eddies would be ok on the short and the mountain goats will be well catered for on the long ride. Departing 08.30-09.00 at the latest.

Castleton 50 Tourist challenge ride. Sunday 27th Sept. 9am. Marton cross roads

Hi wheelers. Just a reminder that this Sunday 27th Sept is the final tourist challenge ride of this year. The “premier” event that is the Castleton 50. Always a great ride and usually good weather for Castleton tea shop at the end. Please meet at Marton cross roads ( Stewert park entrance) in time to sign on and pay your £1 fee and be ready for 9am depart. Once again Brian Bevis will be officiating for me. So no trying to sneak a tick in the mudguards and saddlebag tick boxes unless you have proper mudguards and saddle bag!

Once again I would like to appeal for calm. It’s not a race. I’m going to start it in waves as 60+ riders is far to many to ride together. If the faster riders go first, then we will start the 4hr timer when the last and steadiest group departs. Please try to ride tidily, once on the steep side of clay you can always accelerate and split the ability groups. However please try and avoid the approach to clay bank becoming like the Lincoln Grand pre as it became last year!

Anyone new to the tourist challenge rides please study the route and info on the link below. Although ability groups will form, tourist trials tend the be every rider for themselves and are not lead rides, so please familiarise yourself with the route. If your really stuck on the detail, just head to Helmesly, Kirbymoorside, Hutton Le Hole, Blakey ridge and finish outside Castleton Tea shop.

Castleton 50

Anyone not wishing to ride the Castleton 50, please meet at your usual times at Ayton and sort yourselves a nice ride.

Thanks, Dave k

Tuesday night club run 22nd Sept. 6pm. Ayton. The last one ;-(

Hi all. Tuesday night club run meeting as usual, Ayton tourist info car park at 6pm for 6.10 set off. All welcome. This really will be the last organised Tuesday night club run for this year. Sunset 19.05 Tuesday. Just enough time to squeeze maybe one or two Easby loops in and a Gribdale dash! I won’t be out for this one I’m afraid.
This doesn’t have to be the end of evening rides though. If anyone wishes to do some proper night rides with the big lights on then just organise it on the members face book page. I may do a few myself but I won’t be putting on a weekly organised ride after this one. It’s been a great year of Tuesday night club runs. I have made it to more of these than Sunday club runs. Some great rides, fantastic numbers, and a fair few new riders introduced. Enjoy your ride, and don’t forget your lights!

Thanks for all your help running Tuesday club runs this year. Cheers, Dave

Clay bank HC, 4th oct. Final reminder for anyone wishing to enter.

Hi Wheelers. Its nearly clay bank hill climb time again. Sunday 4th Oct, 10 am. Just so newer members understand, this is the main open event hill climb organised via the cycling time trials org, as opposed to the clay bank miniseries for club members only that followed on from the evening series. All this means is that anyone can enter as long as they are a member of a ctt affiliated cycling club. Please follow the link below if you would like to enter. The closing date is 22nd Sept. for those of you who are really feeling like punishment then the Stockton wheelers are organising Carlton Bank on the afternoon and we are going to add up the times for those doing both events for a joint winner.
Any club member can enter this. Give it a go and don’t feel that you have to be some sort of mountain goat to try. It will be fun to take part. Honest! Refreshments will be on afterwards at the Broughton / Kirby sports hall where we are sharing venues with blue Giraffe cycles who are holding a sportive on the same day.
I will be making it one prize per rider this year to better share out the prizes. Also I’m going to introduce junior under 16s prize 1st to 3rd place for both separate boys and girls categories, oh, and increase the age cats to include the over 70s! plus the tandem prize. Should be fun.

Please follow the links below if you would like to enter. I have also included the link for the Carlton Bank HC for those that are feeling extra brave!

Cheers, Dave
