As many of you may already know, the grand daughter of long-time Wheeler Keith Alderson is suffering from Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that mainly affects young children. In order to help raise money for specialist treatment a charity Roller Cycling Race Off has been organised. This will take place at New Marske Sports & Social Club, Gurney Street, New Marske, TS11 8EG on Sunday 7th December at 3pm.
The event will be in the form of a number of 1v1 elimination race-offs, leading to a grand final providing an outright winner. In addition to the outright winner there will be a number of category related prizes (youth, female, vet etc.).
The event is sponsored by Galactic Echo, who are providing the winner and runner up prizes, and a number of local bike shops who are kindly donating “category” prizes for the event, prizes whose value now exceeds £250.
Prizes will be presented by two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist & Teesside cycling legend Paul Curran!
Entry is £10 and is open to anyone – you don’t have to be a member and you can just turn up and ride! Please enter this event if you have the time, want a bit of fun and want to help raise money for this worthy cause. If you don’t have the time but still want to donate, you can do so by following this link. Entries can be made on the day, just come along. Should be a good laugh, there will be a lot of prizes so it won’t be the situation where only the serious racers go home with everything. We hope to make a lot of prizes available to newcomers and beginners. Should be a fantastic event, it is for a great cause so tell your friends, colleagues, everyone! Simon Coates
