Hawnby via Osmotherley

Distance: 47 Miles
Ascent: 3600 ft

Route on RideWithGPS

This is a beautiful route, especially the outward leg from Osmotherley to Hawnby. On a nice sunny day the scenery is fantastic, and the roads quiet and in decent condition. There are two major hills on the way out, Scarth Nick just after Swainby and Burnthouse Bank just after Osmotherley. After that there is a short but steep kick out of Hawnby and then the long drag up to Clay Bank after Chop Gate. The road back (the B1257) can be busy at certain times but is fairly quiet in the middle of the day.
