Tour De 33

Distance: 70 Miles
Ascent: 7785 ft

Route on RideWithGPS

Not one for the faint hearted. This route takes in the majority of the (claimed) 33% gradient climbs in the North Yorks Moors. It turns out that many such claims are exaggerated, some amounting to no more than a paltry 25%, but the total ascent combined with the total distance still makes this quite a challenge. Stock up well on energy bars & gels and plan a stop en-route for either lunch or at least to replenish water bottles.
If the route is taking its toll on you you can leave Rosedale Abbey by heading north east, missing out Chimney Bank and the long, long drag over Blakey Ridge from Hutton-Le-Hole.
Other than being a challenge, the route takes in some of the finest scenery on the moors and passes through just about every picturesque village.
